The Great Western Astronomers provides these directions to Alpine County Airport, CA. Located South of Minden NV in the eastern High Sierra and site of the Sierra Summer Star Party, Sep 7-9, 2007. From Highway 88, Turn south on Highway 89 for Markleeville CA, go approx 2 miles until you see road signs for Airport Road and Indian Creek Reservoir . Turn East onto Airport Road, go about 2 miles to the Y. Left turn takes you the INdian Creek Reservoir (BLM) which has the first come-first served facilities, RV & tent camping, fishing and boating (No power craft), restrooms and showers. Right turn puts you onto Alpine County Airport property, drive to the south end of the aircraft parking apron, which is the set-up area. There may be camping space available in the trees about 100 yards to the west. There is no power or camping on the apron or runway.

SSSP. The Great Western Astronomers announce Sierra Summer Starparty slated for Fri-Sun September 7-9, 2007. This event will be held at the Alpine County Airport near rustic Markleeville, California which has lodging and restaurants. An easily accessable site by paved road and features a large paved parking and set-up area, nearby camping and facilities, Dark skies, excellent seeing, and good horizons . For use of the facility, an advance registration fee of $20. is requested to off-set government charges and sanitary WC. Sponsorships are invited and encouraged.
